Ramsden Cottage Renovation: Tradition Meets Modern Elegance
A traditional cottage has undergone a remarkable transformation in the charming village of Ramsden in the Cotswolds. Our collaboration with a knowledgeable builder and interior designer has revitalised this quaint property, blending its historical allure with contemporary enhancements.
The Transformation
We introduced a series of carefully chosen elements to the cottage, including casement windows, French door sets, unique round porthole windows, and welcoming front doors.
Each component was meticulously crafted to complement the cottage’s architectural integrity while providing modern utility. The entire selection was unified through a tasteful application of RAL7009 Green Grey, harmonizing the look from the inside out and adding to the property’s serene ambience.
The ironmongery was specifically chosen to echo the cottage interior’s traditional vibe, contributing significantly to the project’s distinctive Tuscan feel. This approach created a warm, inviting atmosphere that is both timeless and modern. The strategic use of colours, textures, and materials elevated the aesthetic value, lending the cottage a luxurious, bespoke finish.
Overcoming Challenges
A notable challenge in this project was the advanced fabrication of windows before the finalization of aperture dimensions, necessitated by the strict timelines.
Through effective communication with the client and their site manager, we successfully navigated potential sizing discrepancies, ensuring each window and door fit flawlessly.
Further, we meticulously planned the new window apertures in the extension to mirror the original windows’ pane sizes. This attention to detail helped integrate the new sections seamlessly with the original structure, making the extension appear as if it had always been part of the cottage.
